In today’s culinary world of gluten intolerance, raw foodists and locavores, vegan eating has wandered far from its hippie roots, leaping off the back of a VW bus and onto dinner tables nationwide.
Many people still assume, though, that vegan dietary restrictions mean a boring diet. Ann Gentry in her new cookbook “Vegan Family Meals: Real Food for Everyone” [Andrews McMeel Publishing, June 2011; 272 pages; $25] goes far afield to showcase the wide variety of food that can fit in a vegan diet.
